Handling Failed Claims

Purpose

Diagnose failed claim attempts while preserving beneficiary routing, cap enforcement, and fail-closed risk behavior.

Procedure

  1. Classify claim path: running claim, executor-assisted claim, settlement reward, principal claim, or remainder drain.
  2. Read seat config, beneficiary, pending claim, claim period state, executor period state, executor grant, and claim state.
  3. Check freshness, risk state, reserve health, dust state, settlement phase, and exit flags.
  4. Determine whether a receipt, risk update, reserve change, or exit transition cancelled the pending claim.
  5. For executor failures, verify scope, expiry, daily cap, and global pause.
  6. For principal or drain failures, verify settlement finalization and delay requirements.
  7. Retry only when the current state supports the claim.

Abort Conditions

Abort if observation is stale, risk is stop-loss or quarantined, beneficiary is unexpected, amount exceeds cap, pending claim was made under old assumptions, or executor grant is expired.

Evidence To Archive

Failed tx, state reads, cap reads, executor grant, claim-state inputs, remediation tx, payout event, vault balance, and ledger snapshot.
